Madrid Pride (MADO - Madrid Orgullo) is one of the largest and most important LGTBIQ+ events in Europe. It has been held annually since 1979, although it has grown exponentially since the 1990s, making Madrid a world reference for the LGTBIQ+ community. The event combines political advocacy, cultural celebration and partying for a full week. The Chueca neighborhood becomes the epicenter of the celebration, with terraces, music and festive atmosphere. The great Saturday afternoon parade runs along Gran Vía with colorful floats, music and thousands of participants from around the world. Madrid Pride attracts over 2 million visitors each year, offering free concerts, exhibitions, talks, cultural activities and night events.
