For example, you could explore the Picos de Europa in a kayak, enjoy a few days of multi-adventure sports in the Sierra de Gredos, or sail along the Costa Brava. And if you’re looking for something even more exciting, you could try a hot-air balloon ride over the volcanic areas in La Garrotxa in Catalonia, an introduction to caving in the caves in the north of Spain, or experience the thrill of paragliding in the Sierra del Segura in Castilla-La Mancha. You’ll find it’s really easy to hire bikes and equipment for whatever sport you’d like to try. We also have over 4,000 kilometres of Greenways, disused railway lines which you can explore on foot, by bike, on horseback, or even on a donkey, and which are ideal for both amateurs and seasoned athletes. If you have a need for speed, you could go white-water rafting down the River Noguera Pallaresa in Lleida or the River Gállego in Huesca. There are also high-speed circuits, like the one in Albacete, where you can drive a real racing car. Spain has a number of areas which have been classified as Starlight Reserves and which are ideal for contemplating the night sky. These include the National Parks of the Teide in Tenerife, the Caldera de Taburiente in La Palma, and the Sierra Morena Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park in Jaén. The natural wealth, landscapes, and ecosystems of our National Parks are a real spectacle waiting to be discovered. One of the most famous is the Way of Saint James, which is a series of medieval pilgrimage routes which converge on the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The most popular route is the French Way, which starts in the town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and crosses the north of Spain.
